I have always had a love-affair with cosmetics, I think it started with Tinkerbell and Lip Smackers. I was fortunate enough to have a mother who let me play and experiment with make-up, even if it meant I made a mess. As I got older, she bought me my first "real" cosmetics and skincare set from Mary Kay. I was in HEAVEN! The obsession began! In my 36 years, I have honestly tried and or bought, thousands of various brands, sets, and collections. Ranging from discount store brands (such as Maybelline, Revlon, L'oreal) to top-of-the line department store and private label spa lines (such as LaMer, Clinique, MAC). All made huge promises, but offered little results. I was always looking for the "perfect" product, and like most people, believed what the packages, articles, and ads proclaimed. "Youthful Glow!", "Reverse the signs of Aging", "Look like a model!", etc... You get the picture. So much for truth in advertising. I don't think I ever did end up looking like a model? hmm.. I will never make promises, only honest opinions and advice for looking your best, whatever your style. I HONESTLY believe in this product line. I have invested a huge amount of my time and money to make Pure Luxe the best it can be, and I believe I have succeeded. *I love my formulas! *I love my colors! *I love how my products make my skin feel and look! *I love that I have made an affordable alternative to the T.V. infomercial mineral makeup brand! Why Mineral Makeup? "What is mineral makeup and why should I use it? " That was my first questions to myself when mineral makeup became the hot new thing. I couldn't see how a POWDER could offer as much coverage as a liquid, be water-resistant, good for your skin, AND be all natural. Those things take chemicals to accomplish, don't they? I made my tv purchase, and was surprised! Powder CAN cover like a liquid. I had some issues with it though, the price being first and foremost. The ingredient Bismuth Oxychloride, which was an ingredient, is a known irritant and a problem for a lot of people, and did not offer the water-resistance I needed. Here in the south, humidity is a beauty killer. When you can walk out the front door and instantly feel the heat and water in the air melting your makeup, you need all the help you can get. So began the research. I scoured over every article, publication, and website that had to do with minerals, cosmetics, skin care and formulating. Along the way, I learned a lot about cosmetics. With what I know now about most major brand lines, I will NEVER put that stuff on my face again! The chemicals and additives that are included in many products, and thought of by the industry as "standard", are just ridiculous. The same ingredients that you put on your face, also are used as industrial cleaners, main components of anti-freeze, solvents in shellac, engine degreasers, and have caused cancer in lab animals. (Though not in large enough amounts to be considered a carcinogen). If I can't use my product, and test it on MYSELF, I wouldn't subject an animal to it. Once I decided what ingredients would work best, I began formulating. What I have ended up with is what I consider an excellent product. It offers the coverage, water-resistancy and the purity that I was looking for. Best of all, I came up with face colors that adapt to YOU, you won't look like you are wearing a mask. The products enhance and perfect YOUR skin. So you get you, only better! No cakey, heavy feeling. Feather-light and gorgeous. If nothing else, the fact that my teenage daughter's acne has totally cleared up since she started using the mineral makeup has been proof enough that the minerals are MUCH BETTER for your skin than the alternative.
